Here's 1 Word Scottie Scheffler Has for Those Who Compare Him to Tiger Woods
@Source: newsweek.com
Scottie Scheffler's extraordinary successes over the past two years have drawn many comparisons to Tiger Woods. However, the World No. 1 doesn't see it the same way.He even has a word to describe it: "Silly."Scheffler addressed the issue during his press conference after winning the Open Championship. The newly crowned Champion Golfer of the Year asserted that neither he nor anyone else is close to emulating Tiger Woods' career."I still think they (those who compare him to Tiger Woods) are a bit silly," Scheffler said, according to the transcripts of the press conference. "Tiger won, what, 15 majors? This is my fourth. I just got one-fourth of the way there. I think Tiger stands alone in the game of golf. He was inspirational for me growing up. He was a very, very talented guy, and he was a special person to be able to be as good as he was at the game of golf."Scottie Scheffler Is Living His DreamMinutes after winning his fourth major title, and the third leg of the career Grand Slam, Scheffler said his motivation isn't winning tournaments or trying to emulate what Woods did during his prime."I don't focus on that kind of stuff," he said, per the transcript. "That's not what motivates me. I'm not motivated by winning championships. I don't look at the beginning of the year and just say, hey, I want to win X amount of tournaments, I want to win whatever it is. I don't do that. I have dreams and aspirations that I think about, but at the end of the day, when I wake up to practice, I feel like what motivates me is just getting out and getting to live out my dream. I get to play professional golf, and I feel like I'm called to do it to the best of my ability."The truth is that "the best of his ability" has been devastating in men's professional golf these days. His victory at Royal Portrush marked his 10th consecutive top-10 finish and fourth win of the season, including two majors. It is also the 10th consecutive victory of his career in which he led after 54 holes.Scheffler's dominance is clearly reflected in the Official World Golf Rankings. According to the X Nosferatu account (@VC606), which specializes in golf world rankings, the Ridgewood, New Jersey native is the second player in history to surpass the 20 average points (20.52).The first player to do so was, of course, Tiger Woods in 2008.More Golf: Rory McIlroy Confirms What Everyone Thought About Crazy Shot at The Open
