Buffalo, N.Y. — Have you ever dreamed of being in a Hallmark movie? If so, your Hallmarkie acting fantasy could soon become a reality in Western New York. A casting agency is seeking a slew of actors to serve as extras in a Christmas Hallmark movie set to start filming this month in the Buffalo area. In its casting call, Casting Buffalo said the movie — dubbed “Newport Christmas” — is expected to film in Buffalo and Youngstown from St. Patrick’s Day through April 3. Casting Buffalo is seeking actors to play two featured background roles: a 6- to 8-year-old child and a “gilded” bachelor in his 30s. Synthetic Cinema International is listed as the production company. Union and non-union actors may apply to appear in the original Hallmark movie. This isn’t the first time a Hallmark movie has been filmed in Upstate New York. The charming village of East Aurora has become a particularly popular spot for holiday films. Since 2015, the village’s iconic Vidler’s 5 & 10 store has been featured in at least five Christmas movies.
