Experienced hooker Moses Armstrong- Ravula has found himself back in the fold of the Sportsworld Fiji Under-20 squad in preparations for next week’s Oceania Rugby U20 Challenge.
“It’s good to come back, I was waiting all year,” he said.
“I just moved to Brisbane in Australia. I was waiting to come back, see all the boys from last year and experience the culture.”
Ravula said he had missed the daily lifestyle he experienced in Fiji when he returned home.
“There were a lot of things happening at the start of the year like personal reasons, moving to a new city and country,” he said.
“Everything was happening a bit too fast for me to take time off work and stuff but it’s good to come back.”
Ravula was excited to play in front of a home crowd for the first time.
“It’s pretty special playing in the same team, following my brother (Isaiah). He’s done it all, he’s really streamlined the system and gone through to high levels,” he said.
“For me personally, I just want to take each step as it comes, focus on this tournament. Hopefully play well and if God willing we’ll see what happens next.”
Ravula said he was advised by his family to enjoy the experience with the Fiji U20 team.
“I kind of came in with a lot more confidence this year so I will try to get more experience and help the other boys as well,” he said.
“I’m just trying to nail my role and try to be the best I can do for the team.”
Faith and family has been the source of motivation for Ravula.
“I’d like to give my love to my family; they always support me in every step of the journey since high school,” he said.
“Isaiah and I played rugby league at Under- 11 to 12s in Australia.”
Moses and Isaiah (16) moved to New Zealand to play rugby union for Saint Andrews College at the age of 15.
“I got to play New Zealand’s first 15s rugby which was special and then after that went to Manawatu Turbos club for a couple of years,” he said.
“I learn a lot there, learnt to be an adult and life after school. I’m in Brisbane now, playing in the Queensland Premier Cup.”
Ravula indicated that he plays against Super Rugby players and former Wallabies players on a weekly basis.
