Hotel guest excited by 'free' mini fridge but the contents are baffling
@Source: belfastlive.co.uk
A hotel guest was thrilled to be told that everything in their room's mini fridge was "free," only to be let down by the lacklustre contents. Staying in a hotel usually means you'll experience a touch of luxury and escapism - there's the convenience of being near popular attractions, the comfort and liberation that comes with a change from everyday life, and a plethora of facilities and amenities at your disposal . Many hotel rooms come with a mini bar or fridge, typically filled with a variety of soft drinks, alcoholic beverages , and often snacks, chocolates and more - though these can be pricey. One person recently stayed at a hotel where they were informed that everything in the mini bar was complimentary. Upon entering their room and eagerly approaching the mini fridge for a treat, they discovered nothing but a single bottle of still water was inside . They took to Reddit to express their disappointment, posting a photo of the empty fridge and simply stating: "'Everything in the mini bar is free', they said - what disappointing UK hotel experiences have you had?" In the comments section, others were eager to share their own less-than-stellar hotel experiences across the country. One person shared: "I stayed in a hotel in Glasgow in late 2020 - their dining room was still closed so you filled in a breakfast order form and they delivered it to your room. "I ordered the continental breakfast, which was meant to consist of mini pastries and fruit salad. I got a squashed plain croissant and a whole, unpeeled orange in a brown paper bag." Another recounted: "I once had a hotel booked in London but when we turned up, there was a skip outside and the doors were locked. "We tried ringing and nobody was answering. They'd just shut down and not cancelled bookings." A third commented: "Someone knocked on my door in a hotel in Wales and handed me a complete Wales Rugby kit, and said it was 'for me'. "I presumed it was some sort of gift (I was young, and travelling for work - never stayed in [a] nice hotel before). "Half an hour later the guy came and asked for it back. The Welsh team were staying in the hotel and they'd got the wrong room." Another person shared: "Went to a gig at Wembley and stayed in a B&B. Breakfast was Tesco value Swiss rolls, ready salted crisps and tea with no milk." Another Reddit user shared: "I stopped at a B&B near Gatwick airport for a flight the next day. The full English consisted of tinned mushrooms, watery tinned beans, a fresh tomato, cold toast and three tinned hotdog sausages." Sharing a different experience, another person added: "In a former life I had Gold (approaching Diamond) status with IHG. "On a couple of occasions they upgraded me to a suite and gave me a full free minibar and a bottle of champagne. "I don't miss all of the travel and crippling exhaustion, but I do miss the little perks that made me feel special."
