It was a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, but Serena Williams quickly made waves when she performed a "crip walk" dance during Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl 2025 Halftime Show on Sunday, February 9. The 43-year-old Grand Slam winner's husband, Alexis Ohanian, was quick to share his support for the performance."Pretty fantastic halftime show," the Reddit founder, 41, wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). Though he did not comment directly on his wife's contribution to the show, plenty of the tech mogul's followers did. "That was amazing, jaw dropped when I saw @serenawilliams," wrote one user. Another jokingly added, "That one young lady crip walking on the stage was pretty fantastic. Who is she?!"Williams' participation took on special significance due to 37-year-old Lamar's ongoing feud with rapper Drake, who Williams reportedly dated off and on between 2011 and 2015. Lamar's song, "They Not Like Us," contains several lyrical references to Drake, including several that accuse him of behaving inappropriately with younger women, although the lyrics were edited for the Super Bowl performance. The choice of having Williams do the "crip walk" was also significant because the tennis player was criticized for doing a similar dance when she defeated Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon in 2012. While Williams said that her celebratory display at the time was "just a dance," some outlets accused her of showing off moves that were affiliated with the Crips gang.Williams posted a video on Instagram after the show in which she, Ohanian, and their 7-year-old daughter Olympia rode back to their seats in a golf cart after her dance debut. "Back to family time, tune in!" Williams said, as the trio smiled into the camera. Ohanian looked delighted to be supporting his wife.The power couple have been married since 2017, and share two daughters, Olympia and 2-year-old Adira.
