Manchester United host Lyon tonight looking to progress to the Europa League semi-finals and keep their disappointing season alive. Ruben Amorim’s men had to settle for a 2-2 draw in the south of France last week after Rayan Cherki’s 95th-minute equaliser. The Red Devils had come from a goal down to lead the game thanks to Joshua Zirkzee’s 88th-minute header, but were unable to hold on in an error-filled night for goalkeeper Andre Onana. Speaking before the game, Amorim confirmed Onana would start the game: “I just think first of all as a coach and also as a former player, I try to do things that can help a player in this situation," he said. “So sometimes we talk about managing players physically, we have to manage them also mentally but they have to return to competition. Onana is ready. He had one weekend that I felt it was better for him to not play and a good thing for Altay to play and this week my thinking was to put Onana to play.” The club have also announced plans this week to unveil a ‘tifo’ banner ahead of kick-off to try to create a special atmosphere for what is set to be the biggest match of Portuguese's reign so far. Manchester United vs Lyon kicks off at 8pm on Thursday, April 17, at Old Trafford in Manchester. Fans can catch the action on TNT Sports 1 with coverage starting at 7pm. TNT Sports subscribers can also watch the match live via the Discovery+ app and website. Amorim : "As we welcome Paulo Fonseca and Lyon to Old Trafford this evening, we all know what is at stake. "The tie is currently level, so we have to win to progress, and to do that we will have to play well against a strong opponent. "We must play with our hearts and our heads, and that applies to the players, staff and supporters. "The advantage of being at home tonight is that we have the incredible weapon of a packed Old Trafford on our side, and that can make a huge difference for us." Paulo Fonseca: "I expect Manchester United's strongest performance of the season. "They are a big team and a big club. True, in the Premier League they are not what they were. It has been a bit different, but in the Europa League they have put in some good performances and have a lot of individual skills. "I expect to be playing against the best United there is. It is a decisive moment for Manchester United. They will be super motivated for the match."
