The Gold Cup is the western hemisphere’s answer to the UEFA Nations League, featuring men’s senior national teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean. It dates to 1991, but before that, was known as the CONCACAF Championship, and had a slightly different structure. Unlike the Nations League, the CONCACAF Gold Cup is not directly involved in qualification for the FIFA World Cup. Eight teams, including World Cup 2026 hosts USA, Canada and Mexico, qualified for the tournament via their performance in the most recent CONCACAF Nations League.
