The Red Wings did not make a good impression around the final days before the NHL Trade Deadline, once again leaving doubt around Hockeytown that the team is capable of finally making it back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Detroit is coming off a disappointing finish to its game this past Friday night against the Washington Capitals, losing 5-2, marking the team’s fifth straight loss. With the defeats piling up at this point of the season, just like they had been over the past couple of years, things are not looking good in Motown.
The Senators are also battling for their playoff lives, though they are in better standing than the Wings. Thanks to wins in back-to-back games, Ottawa is in sole possession of the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Red Wings, sitting fifth in the Atlantic Division behind the Sens, are two points back of the last Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
