The world is not estranged from Donald Trump's antics both in and out of office. From chilling threats to Iran to bust ups with Elon Musk , the US president is not afraid to say what he thinks - or to shy away from new ventures. The 79-year-old, who re-entered the White House in January , has already launched his own social media platform, TruthSocial. And now, Trump is entering the mobile phone space, with Trump Mobile his latest pursuit. Billed as a "bold wireless service for real Americans," the Trump Organization announced the new self-branded smartphone and mobile service that aims to take on Apple and Samsung this week. The US President’s business organisation - run by his eldest sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump - said on Monday that the gold coloured 'T1 Phone' will be available in August for $499 £(368), while the phone plan will cost $47.45 (£35) a month. The new mobile venture will include US-based call centres with "real people," rather than automated machines, and phones made in America, the organisation claimed, although some reports suggest otherwise . "Trump Mobile is going to change the game, we’re building on the movement to put America first, and we will deliver the highest levels of quality and service," Mr Trump Jr. said. "Our company is based right here in the United States because we know it’s what our customers want and deserve." So, how does it work? Well, despite the branding, Trump Mobile is not a new cell network itself. Rather, it will likely work on the three major established carriers in the US: T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon. Trump Mobile will offer 5G service through all three major cellular carriers and those subscribed to the phone plan will receive unlimited calls, text, and data, complete device protection, and 24/7 roadside assistance. Users will receive telehealth services, including virtual medical care, mental health support, and easy ordering and delivery for prescription medications, and no contracts or credit checks will be involved. Free International calling to more than 100 countries, including many with American military bases "to help honour the families who are bravely serving in our military abroad," will also be provided. Elsewhere, while Apple and Samsung face issues with costly tariffs imposed by President Trump, the GOP leader's latest undertaking could actually further benefit from regulators he appoints, reports the Independent . Brian Mulberry, a client portfolio manager at Zacks Investment Management, told the publication that "there's been an opening for this type of device... simply because [Apple and Samsung devices] have got so expensive." "I think it's probably going to get some extra attention just because it has Trump's name on it but I think the marketplace has been ripe for this type of competition," he added. The Trump family, long known for its real estate empire, luxury hotels, and golf resorts, including Trump Turnberry in South Ayrshire and Trump Aberdeen , has journeyed into new space in recent years including cryptocurrency. The Trump Organization, which is the main holding entity for most of the US president's business ventures, said ahead of Trump's inauguration that control of the company would be handed to his children, replicating the arrangement from his first term, though concerns about potential conflicts of interest remain.
