Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) carried out demolitions to reclaim government land encroached upon by construction companies in Hafizpet and Raidurg in Hyderabad on Saturday. In Hafizpet, Survey No. 79, spanning 39.2 acres of government land listed as prohibited in revenue records, was found to be encroached. Vasanta Homes Company allegedly manipulated records by designating the land as Survey No. 79/1, misleading authorities to carry out unauthorized constructions. Over 19 acres have been developed with houses sold to buyers, while the remaining 20 acres host an office, sheds, and structures rented to various organizations. These activities continued despite a pending Supreme Court case (C.S.14/58). HYDRAA demolished structures within the fenced perimeter and installed boards declaring the land as government property. In a separate incident in Raidurg, HYDRAA acted on complaints from local youths who reported being barred from playing cricket near Survey No. 5/2 due to encroachments. The agency’s field inspection revealed that Narne Estates was illegally developing up to 39 acres of government land, including a pond, by constructing roads and selling plots in an unauthorized layout. Despite boards indicating a land grabbing case, Narne Estates advertised plots for sale with contact numbers. HYDRAA removed the encroachments, restored the land, and filed a police case against the encroachers, the release said.
