I asked Brendan Rodgers about Celtic transfers and he burst out laughing but here are the four signings I expect
@Source: dailyrecord.co.uk
Celtic will make at least three signings before the transfer window closes next week – possibly four if Michael Gannon's 'sneaking suspicion' proves correct. That's the view of our man in Almaty who told Celtic fans what they can expect as he toured the Kazakh city live on our social media channels. Brendan Rodgers and his team are in central Asia for tonight's Champions League crunch where they are looking to become the first Scottish team ever to win in Kazakhstan. They'll need to if they are to avoid the ignominy of demotion to the Europa League, having failed to break the deadlock in a 0-0 stalemate with the minnows at Parkhead. The sky-high altitude and even higher temperatures make it an uphill battle for the Hoops but the hosts are up against it too with five key players missing. Whatever happens in Kazakhstan this evening though, Celtic fans will be demanding a signing – or four – before the window closes this time next week. Winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha looks a dead cert to be next in the door with a £4.5m deal all-but rubber-stamped. Then it will be left-back Marcelo Saracchi on a loan deal from Boca Juniors . Will there be more beyond that? In a word, yes. Gannon told fans on our Facebook Live stream from Almaty : "I asked Brendan Rodgers about Celtic transfers (on Monday) and he burst out laughing. But he said he hoped he'd have one or two in later in the week. "That's about as strong as you get from Brendan Rodgers, so I'd expect them. "Balikwisha is pretty much done and dusted, and thank goodness that saga is over and done with. "It looks like Saracchi is close, a loan with an option to buy after a year. Tierney has been outstanding but hasn't done 90 minutes yet, he's only done that twice in two years. He has to build himself back up. "I have no doubt there will be more signings. I expect Balikwisha, Saracchi, and one more winger." But even that might not be the end of it. Daizen Maeda has been loosely linked with a move away all window and our man has a gut feeling that interest might just ramp up in the final seven days of the window. And if it does, he expects that to trigger a move for another out-and-out No.9. He went on: "There's a sneaking suspicion there's some interest in Maeda. He loves living in Glasgow, he loves it at Celtic, so he's not banging any doors down. "But he's 27, he's got to be thinking about his next big move. It would need to take serious money, because you're not just losing one player, you're losing two or three players. "If they are to consider that, they need at least one more winger. If they keep Maeda, they can get away with two wingers; if they sell him, it's two wingers and a striker."
