ROY KEANE "is not as grumpy as people think" and could even have a career as a comedian.
That was the claim of Jill Scott, who opened up on their friendship in an interview with The Telegraph.
Keane and Scott have forged a kinship during their shared time on Stick To Football alongside Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, and Ian Wright.
They first met at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where the ex-England international revealed how he had her fixated on every word.
She explained: ""I was sat next to him and he was telling me stories about when he was Sunderland manager.
"As a Sunderland fan, oh my God, I think I chewed his ear off for two hours.
"That was our initial communication."
The former Republic of Ireland international has become known as a stern and opinionated pundit on Sky Sports, ITV, and others since retiring from football.
But on the more informal podcast, he has shown his lighter side, famously rendering Neville, Wright, Scott, and Paul Scholes in fits of laughter after a Marlon Harewood quip.
On an episode last November, Scott revealed that she had played a charity game against the Reading striker, who "absolutely smashed us".
Not missing a beat, Keane responded by asking her "what was the game like?" in a moment that went instantly viral.
It was one of a number of instances of the ex-Manchester United midfielder's razor sharp wit.
And his Stick To Football colleague argued that he could have made is a comedian if he put his mind to it.
She said: "I think we get on. I respect him so much, his values, his morals and the way he looks at life.
"I loved him as a footballer. Maybe we are friends, I enjoy getting a coffee with him.
"He makes you laugh all the time. I actually think he could be a comedian, you know.
"He’s a great guy, I feel very lucky to work with him.
"He’s not as grumpy as people think
"In fact, he’s passionate about life.
"If he sees something that he doesn’t like, you know a dog having a poo and the owner not picking it up, he is going to tell you.
"He wants to put everything right in the world, but he has got good values and morals and I think that’s great."
