David Beckham has revealed his biggest mistake when he moved to America David Beckham, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid superstar, has expressed regret over taking the captain's armband from Landon Donovan during his time with the LA Galaxy. Beckham joined LA Galaxy from PSG and excelled in the MLS but he's not pleased whenever he reflects on what happened with Donovan. What Beckham said In an interview on his UEFA Champions League alternative show "Beckham & Friends Live," Beckham discussed the situation. He said, "When I first moved to LA, Landon Donovan was the captain. And the owner of the team came to me and said, 'I want you to be captain.' And I said, 'No, Landon Donovan is the captain.'" Beckham eventually relented after being told Donovan was fine with it. However, he now wishes he had stood by his initial instinct. "It's my one regret, I should never have taken it off of Landon," Beckham admitted. Donovan had previously expressed his disappointment with Beckham's attitude towards the team. In 2009, he was quoted in "The Beckham Experiment" by Grant Wahl, saying, "When David first came, I believed he was committed to what he was doing. But something changed. He just flipped a switch and said, 'Uh-huh, I'm not doing it anymore'." Beckham's experience may inform his approach as co-owner of Inter Miami, which features global talent like Lionel Messi. As Inter Miami looks to defend their Supporters' Shield, Beckham will hope to avoid similar issues and prioritize team harmony. Despite this regret, Beckham's impact on MLS cannot be overstated. His arrival in 2007 brought unprecedented attention and legitimacy to the league. His success with the Galaxy, including two MLS Cups, cemented his legacy in American soccer.
