If Ange Postecoglou fulfils his Tottenham promise he should give the 'biggest middle finger in English football history'

Gary Neville says Ange Postecoglou has every right to give English football the 'middle finger' if he wins the Europa League. The Tottenham Hotspur boss has come under intense scrutiny this season with his team sitting 16th in the Premier League table. But the former Celtic gaffer has forged a thrilling Europa League campaign to the semi-final with his team heading to Norway for their second leg against Bodo/Glimt boasting a 3-1 lead. Ange had a trophy-laden stretch in Glasgow but many of the English press scoffed when he declared that he always wins silverware in his second season. Even if he does lift the trophy at the San Mames later this month the Aussie coach has reportedly already been lined up for the axe by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy. Despite a likely final against his beloved Manchester United, Neville believes it would be "amazing" if Postecoglou got one over the doubters. "It's massive. Ange did promise us a trophy in his second season," said Gary Neville on the 'It's Called Soccer' podcast. "[If he wins it] It is going to be the biggest middle finger in English football history. "And do you know something I think I will join him on that one! I think it would be amazing! "But the problem he has is that he is playing my team, so he can't win. "If he does what he has done in his first two seasons and wins the Europa League... look, I still think there is still an element of Tottenham have made their mind up already [on his job]. I feel that. "But I mean it would be an unbelievable achievement for him if he got Champions League for Tottenham and if he was to beat Manchester United in the final." Neville planted his flag in the Ange camp only temporarily, though, and backed his former club for glory. "You can't speak too early but I always fancy United in finals," he added. "There is just a sort of element of what they do. "But they obviously got beat by Villarreal a few years ago when Ole was there and that was big for Ole at the time. This is big for Ruben Amorim."
