Prithvi Shaw has been out of the Indian cricket team for a long time now. He last played for the Men in Blue on July 25, 2021, against Sri Lanka during a T20I match in Colombo. The 25-year-old right-handed batter, who became the youngest Indian to score a century on Test debut in October 2018, went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction last year. Shaw’s cricket career of late has been surrounded by controversies, and in the recent past he has made more headlines for unwanted reasons than for cricket. Shaw, who was seen as the next big thing in world cricket when he first burst onto the scene in 2018, in a recent interview with Dainik Jagran, made a hilarious admission and said that he feels like he is Jethalal from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. When asked about if controversies chase him or he likes to be in controversies, Shaw said, “Kafi samay se aisa kuch nahi hua hai, lekin ek baat mai kehna chahunga ki mujhe vivad pakad lete hai. Mai Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah ka Jethalal hu.” For the unversed, Jethalal is the lead character of the popular TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and is always part of some problem or other. Prithvi leaves Mumbai Prithvi Shaw on Monday ended his ties with Mumbai after being granted a No Objection Certificate by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to sign up with a new domestic side for his “growth and development as a cricketer”. “The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) would like to inform that cricketer Prithvi Shaw had formally requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to represent another state as a professional player in the upcoming domestic season. After due consideration, the MCA has granted the NOC,” the MCA stated on June 23. In the letter that Shaw sent to the MCA, the 25-year-old said he was grateful for the time he spent in the Mumbai team, for which he made his debut in 2017, but desires to move on now. “I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for the valuable opportunities and unwavering support extended to me during my time representing the association. “It has truly been an honor and a privilege to be part of the MCA setup, and I am deeply grateful for the exposure and experience I have gained here,” he wrote in the letter.
