Injured Manchester United players 'pushing' to return for Europa League final

Ruben Amorim expects injured Manchester United players will push to be available for the Europa League final. Lisandro Martinez (anterior cruciate ligament) and Joshua Zirkzee (hamstring) are out for the rest of the season but Matthijs de Ligt (knee), Diogo Dalot (calf) and Ayden Heaven (foot) could play again this season. United are still managing the fitness of Amad, who was influential in turning around their Europa League semi-final second leg against Athletic Bilbao. Amad has made three substitute appearances since he recovered from an ankle injury but last started on February 7. Dalot has been sidelined for two weeks while De Ligt was forced off in the 4-3 loss at Brentford on Sunday in what was his first start in more than a month. Amorim admitted United are still being cautious with Mason Mount, who was included in the starting line-up at Brentford for the first time since December 15. Mount was sidelined for three months with a hamstring injury. Noussair Mazraoui is set to be rested again this weekend in the Premier League home game against West Ham United. The right back did not travel to Brentford at the weekend. United host West Ham United on Sunday and travel to Chelsea next Friday before the final against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao. "It’s going to be hard," Amorim acknowledged. "Players like Mason Mount we have to be careful, Amad is still getting momentum, some players are not capable to do that. "We rest Nous, but you can feel Mazraoui doesn’t have energy in this moment. We try to help in that department. Dalot is doing everything to recover and I think they will push now to be available. "Some players cannot play 90 minutes and we have to protect them not to get injuries for the final." Amorim felt Mount and Amad changed the game in United's 4-1 semi-final second leg win against Athletic. United trailed 1-0 when the pair emerged in the 62nd minute and Mount scored ten minutes later. Amad assisted Rasmus Hojlund's goal to make it 3-1 before Mount scored a classy 40-yarder with the goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala outside the area. "I think they changed the game but that is credit to the players," Amorim added. "I felt we needed a bit more energy, we had to keep the ball. " When you play with Manu (Ugarte) and Casemiro, we win in some areas but lose in the way we push forward the team. Bruno Fernandes is a really good player to drive the ball but also to start the play with long passes and that can help us. "Amad is to change, because I felt Garna was a little bit tired, was my fault because he did a really good job against Brentford. It’s hard to think about everything in these kind of games, so my thinking is always to help the team to win."
