ITV star Ben Shephard is best known for his 10-year run on Good Morning Britain before he left at the start of 2024. Since then he's become the face of This Morning alongside Cat Deeley as the pair present the popular show at the start of the week with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary hosting on Fridays. However, the 50-year-old is also the face of another beloved game show on ITV , Tipping Point. This month, the programme is celebrating its 13th year, with its first episode airing on July 2 2012. With his series reaching a huge milestone, we’re taking a look into Ben Shephard’s life away from the cameras. In 2018, Ben opened up about suffering from a slipped disc, resulting in him needing painkillers to deal with the injury, which often left him "in a daze" However, three years later, the ITV star faced another setback when he ruptured his ACL during a football match, tearing his meniscus and fracturing his leg. Since then, Ben has incorporated functional fitness into his training routine as he recently told Men's Health Magazine. He said: "My back is in a state and my knees are in a state. I'm a lot more conscious of my need to apply functional fitness in my training." "I don't want to be in a position where I can't play golf with my sons and my mates. "I don't want to be unable to go skiing with the boys, which I love doing, or play football, I'm just so scared of doing my knee again." During an interview with Emmerdale actress Beth Cordingly, who plays Ruby Miligan in the soap, This Morning fans were stunned to discover the pair go way back. Both Ben and Beth went to the University of Birmingham, while she studied English and Drama, Benn took on Dance, Drama and Theatre Arts. Despite being a year apart, they reminisced about their younger days before their careers took off as a throwback image of Ben popped on on-screen. Laughing, Ben commented "It was like one big, happy family," While Beth added "You were this interesting mix because you were big in the rugby thing... It must have been some sort of 70s thing." Ben replied: “We had all of these incredibly talented actors and I was in the dance department, and it was just a brilliant and extraordinary time.” It wasn't only soap stars that Ben met while at university as it's the place he also met Annie, his now wife. At the time, Annie was studying Philosophy and led the Philosophy & Epistemology society before they began dating in 1995. Nine years later, they tied the knot in 2004 and went on to have two sons, Sam and Jack, who Ben proudly speaks about while hosting This Morning. In the past, Ben has praised Annie for her support during his career while speaking to Lancashire Post in 2013 he said: "My wife has to put up with a lot, in regards to hours and the nature of my job." Although Annie is successful in her own right as she runs a popular blog called The House Editor, where she shares tips and ideas on interior design. Last year, Ben opened up about a huge milestone for their family as his son Jack left the nest for university. Speaking about his son leaving home on This Morning, Ben said: "It was all very emotional. This was him and Annie, he's in Bristol. She was better than I was to be fair, I was really really emotional about it." Both This Morning and Tipping Point are available to watch on ITVX
