Inside Jurgen Klopp's £4million mansion that still hasn't sold a year on from Liverpool exit
@Source: mirror.co.uk
It may have been over a year since Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool , but the luxury mansion where he lived on Merseyside remains on the market. The stunning six-bedroom abode, placed in the picturesque location of Freshfield, Formby, was originally on sale for £4.25million. However, that price has now dropped to £4m, with no buyers in sight. Klopp , 58, left the Reds last summer after initially announcing his departure in a bombshell statement back in January 2024. The German icon's former mansion features seven-bathrooms, a swimming pool complex with a shower and sauna as well as four reception rooms. It also boasts a breathtaking separate entertainment building with a spa and a gym on the first floor. Situated in what is known as 'Millionaire's Row', Liverpool have been associated with the property for over two decades. Former manager Brendan Rodgers was a previous tenant, with legendary midfielder Steven Gerrard having first purchased the property in 2005. However, current Reds boss Arne Slot declined to stay in the property. "It was identified by the club as an ideal base for incoming managers," a source said, as per The Sun in 2024. "Arne [Slot] was offered it when he took over in the summer but has chosen to live elsewhere. As a result, the club has decided to cut its losses." With the mansion on sale, property agent William Goulden previously said: "This is an exceptional home in a beautiful part of the country. Many will be aware of the property's recent history." Rightmove property expert Tim Bannister also told the BBC that the residence is one of the website's most viewed properties in 2024. "From a luxurious former football manager’s [Klopp] residence to a historic Grade I listed abbey, the most viewed homes of the year reflect the wide-ranging dreams of home-hunters this year across Britain," he said. Klopp left Merseyside after having won nine major trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League , having been installed as manager in October 2015. He cited a "lack of energy" as the force behind his shock departure. He has since taken up a job as Head of Global Soccer for the Red Bull group in January of this year, despite being heavily linked with jobs at clubs such as Real Madrid and Roma. Slot meanwhile has since breezed into Anfield, securing huge success at the first time of asking having won the Premier League last season. However, despite not taking up in Klopp's old house, the pair have struck up something of a friendship with Klopp in attendance at Liverpool's final home game of the season against Crystal Palace where they lifted the Premier League trophy. Praising Klopp after being left such a formidable team , Slot said: "It [winning the Premier League] feels great. I don't think I want to say a lot. The only thing now is to send my appreciation to Jurgen Klopp ." Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
