@Source: newsweek.com
It was nearly five years ago that Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love stepped on the stage to hear his name called after playing stellar college ball with Utah State. With the 2025 NFL Draft fast approaching, Love sat down with Newsweek Sports to talk about that night, his partnership with a girls' flag football team, and who he has his eye on in the draft.More news: Jerry Jones Teases Cowboys Big Trade PlansThe 2025 NFL Draft is rapidly approaching. This is the fifth anniversary of when you were drafted. Apart from being selected by the Packers, what was the best moment from that night, and what was like the most nerve-wracking moment?"The most nerve-racking moment from that night is just not knowing where you are going to end up, and what team is going to take you. What pick you might be taking at, the unknown is definitely a hard process. The most fun part is when you do get your name called, and knowing exactly what team you're going to go to. Hearing the Green Bay Packers come along, and knowing that they're the ones giving me the opportunity to chase my dreams and all the work I put in for that moment, that's definitely the most fun part of being there, surrounded by my family as well. So it was a fun time."Love also played football for a mid-major school in Utah State, as opposed to a Power Five school, and he still became a first-round pick, and talked about the feelings he had when he was drafted.More news: Vikings Players Rumored to be Angling for Kirk Cousins ReturnWhat was it like being a first-round pick out of a mid-major school?"You know, Utah State, obviously, you know, not one of the biggest universities out there, but we still had a great football program. We had a lot of great, you know, talent at the school. So to be one of the guys drafted from that university, you know, I remember guys like Bobby Wagner ... guys that played in the league from there that I looked up to. So being able to do that was a great opportunity. And now, you know, we have another receiver this year, Jaylen Royal was looking to get his name called. So, you know, exciting times for Utah State."Granted, Love experienced his draft moment, as will a ton of young players in the 2025 NFL Draft. He revealed what his best advice is to the young talent waiting to hear their names called.What is your best advice for all the draftees coming out of the 2025 NFL draft?"I would say, right now, just enjoy it. You know, they put all the work in. They've gone through the combine and all the different interviews that they got to do. So right now, with the draft around the corner, just enjoy these final days before, you know, they find out exactly what team they're going to, but before they jump into getting the OTAs and the life change for them. So just enjoy this opportunity right now."Love not only understands the importance of draft night, but he also struck a huge partnership with Toyota and the Oneida Nation Lady Thunderhawks flag football team. Together, Love and Toyota partnered with the local Green Bay team to surprise and send the girls to the 2025 NFL Draft, and also inform them that they are set to announce a pick on stage.What can you tell me about the Toyota partnership?"We have a very special opportunity to be able to give a girls' flag football team from Green Bay the opportunity to go to the draft and go up on stage and actually announce a pick on day three. So I think it's a very special opportunity for them to be able to see, you know, the guys have been working so hard to achieve their dreams, be able to make it to that stage and go up there and announce a pick, I think it'll, you know, hopefully inspire them to be able to chase their dreams, just as those guys are doing. And then also partner with Toyota. We're actually going to be covering the registration fees for all the teams, the flag football teams in the Green Bay Area, for next season. So, you know, just trying to grow the game, give these kids, and they're going to be the future of the game, more opportunities to be able to go out there and play the sport we love."Flag football has been on the rise for many years, and Love is doing his part to support the next generation of players. There has also been a lot of talk regarding flag football being added to the Olympics in 2028. Naturally, Love was asked if he would partake in the game for the U.S.Flag Football is going to be added to the Olympics in 2028, and many NFL players have been rumored to be throwing their hat in the ring to represent the U.S. Is that something that you're kind of eyeing?"I'm definitely excited to see the game of flag football be a part of the Olympics. And you know, hopefully, like you said, maybe some NFL players will be able to go out there and play in it, which would be pretty cool, but I'm gonna leave that to the actual flag football pros for now."Being a staunch supporter of the state of Wisconsin, Love also weighed in on the series between the Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks.Do you have any predictions for the Pacers and Bucks series?"Bucks all the way, they're gonna do they're gonna handle business ... I'd want to see they go all the way to game seven, so we get as many games in as possible."For more on the NFL, head to Newsweek Sports.
