Orange Cap in IPL 2025 (Most Runs): Sanju Samson played his first match as Rajasthan Royals captain in IPL 2025 on Saturday (April 5) against Punjab Kings and scored 38 runs from 26 balls. During his stay at the crease at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Samson hammered six fours and added 89 runs for the first wicket with Yashasvi Jaiswal (67 runs from 45 balls). The 38-run knock on Saturday helped Samson enter the list of top 10 leading run scorers in IPL 2025. He has 137 runs to his name in four matches played so far this year. Shreyas Iyer was also in action on Saturday, but in the first home match of IPL 2025 for Punjab Kings, the star batter failed to do much with the bat. He opened his account by hitting Jofra Archer for a cracking four but was clean bowled by him as well on the last ball of the first over of the run chase. The cricketer from Mumbai, who joined PBKS for Rs 26.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, has 159 runs to his name in three IPL 2025 matches played so far this year. For Punjab Kings, former Mumbai Indians batter Nehal Wadhera top-scored on Saturday. He came to bat at No. 5 for the Preity Zinta-owned side and, with the help of four fours and three sixes, scored 62 runs from 41 balls. LSG wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran is leading the Orange Cap race in IPL 2025. In four matches played so far for the Rishabh Pant-led side, with the help of two fifties, Pooran has scored 201 runs. He is followed by Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan (186 runs in three matches), LSG opener Mitchell Marsh (184 runs in four matches), MI’s Suryakumar Yadav (171 runs in four matches) and GT’s wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler (166 runs in three matches).
