@Source: news18.com
In the last 93 years, a total of eight bowlers have picked up nine hat-tricks for Team India in international cricket. Of those nine hat-tricks, three are in Test cricket, five in ODIs and one in T20Is. Of the five hat-tricks in ODIs, two came in the ODI World Cup matches. Of the total eight Indian bowlers who have a hat-trick to their name in international cricket, only Kuldeep Yadav has dismissed three batters in a row on multiple occasions. Here’s a look at Indian bowlers who have the honour of taking hat-tricks in international cricket: Chetan Sharma was the first Indian bowler to take a hat-trick in international cricket. During the 1987 India-New Zealand ODI World Cup match in Nagpur on October 31, he dismissed Ken Rutherford, Ian Smith and Ewen Chatfield (all three bowled). Former India captain and legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev also picked up a hat-trick during the India-Sri Lanka ODI match played in Kolkata on January 4, 1991. His first hat-trick was against Australia in Kolkata on September 21, 2017, and his second was against the West Indies in Vizag on December 18, 2019. The Ahmedabad-based pacer dismissed three West Indies batters in three balls during the first innings of the India-West Indies Kingston Test in 2019.
