Is Virat Kohli Missing Team India? His Heartfelt Post After Edgbaston Win Sparks Big Reaction
@Source: timesnownews.com
Virat Kohli, the former India captain, showered praise on the Shubman Gill-led Indian Test team after they registered a thumping win at Edgbaston, beating England by 336 runs and levelling the five-match series 1-1. Kohli, a legendary batter, had announced his surprise retirement from Test cricket ahead of the England series in May. But after the historic win at Edgbaston - their first at the venue in 58 years - Kohli could not resist praising the young team. “Great victory for India at Edgbaston. Fearless and kept pushing England to the wall. Brilliantly led by Shubman with the bat and in the field, and impactful performances from everyone. Special mention to Siraj and Akash for the way they bowled on this pitch. @ShubmanGill @mdsirajofficial #AkashDeep,” Kohli wrote on X (formerly Twitter), as India registered their biggest-ever overseas win. After his post went viral, former England batter Jonathan Trott, currently the head coach of Afghanistan, shared his thoughts on Sony Sports, suggesting that Kohli misses the Indian dressing room deeply. "Coming back to Virat Kohli's tweet, no wonder he misses that dressing room feeling. I sometimes wonder how quickly that feeling comes back after you give up the game. Doesn't he live in St. John's Wood or nearby? Can he not be persuaded to come back?" Trott said. Kohli, who had been going through a lean patch in Tests, last played for India in Australia in January. He bid farewell to Test cricket after playing 123 matches and scoring 9,230 runs. However, he will continue to represent India in limited-overs cricket - ODIs and T20Is. Despite India playing the Edgbaston Test without their ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, they managed to bowl out England in both innings - for 407 and 271 - with Akash Deep picking up 10 wickets and Mohammed Siraj claiming 7 in the match. Captain Gill led from the front, scoring 430 runs - 269 in the first innings and 161 in the second. The third Test between England and India will begin on Thursday at Lord's.
