Trump has publicly claimed to have played a pivotal role in de-escalating multiple global conflicts. His assertions span diverse geopolitical flashpoints, including the Middle East, South Asia, and the Korean Peninsula. While some of his claims are partially corroborated by diplomatic timelines, others have been firmly denied by the nations involved.“The 12 Day War”: Trump declares ceasefire between Israel and IranOn June 24, 2025, Trump took to Truth Social to announce what he described as the end of the “12 Day War” between Israel and Iran. The conflict had intensified following US precision airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, conducted with advanced weaponry including GBU-57 bunker busters, Tomahawk cruise missiles, and B-2 bombers. Also read: Gold price: Gold rate predicted by experts amidst Iran Israel war“CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! Pakistan responded by sending its fighter jets and missiles to hit military and civilian sites in India which were duly countered by the air defense systems. Also read: Iran Israel war: World War 3 fear could be real if Tehran takes these shocking stepsIn retaliation, Indian Air Force jets decimated Pakistan’s defenses and its airbases, forcing its military to seek a ceasefire. But Trump tried to claim credit for ending the hostilities between India and Pakistan, which was strongly denied by New Delhi.“India and Pakistan were ready to go to war. Millions could have died. I stopped it,” Trump stated.India ruled out any US role, emphasizing that the ceasefire was a result of military-to-military negotiations, pointing to the damages inflicted on Pakistan and adding that no third power will ever get involved in the resolving issues between the two neighbours.“There was no mediation or intervention. The decision to agree to the ceasefire came after Pakistan requested de-escalation following significant losses to its air defense systems and forward bases,” India’s Ministry of External Affairs stated.Pakistan, however, credited US diplomacy in its version of events.North Korea: The Trump-Kim summits and reduced hostilitiesDuring his first term, Trump held historic summits with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, beginning with the 2018 Singapore meeting and followed by engagements in Hanoi and the Korean Demilitarized Zone.“If I wasn’t elected, we would be at war with North Korea. I got along very well with Kim Jong-un,” he stated. Also read: US stock market outlook: Will S&P 500, Dow Jones, Nasdaq crash or rise amidst Iran Israel war? While formal denuclearization did not occur, missile tests by North Korea decreased significantly during the Trump-Kim dialogue period. Though not a formal peace accord, Trump labeled the agreement as a diplomatic breakthrough.“Another historic peace agreement. Kosovo and Serbia have been fighting forever. We got them to sit down and sign a deal,” Trump said. The agreement covered infrastructure cooperation, mutual recognition of diplomas, and other economic issues. It was the first time the two leaders met for US-led negotiations on American soil.Sudan-Israel normalization: Abraham Accords extensionUnder the broader Abraham Accords initiative, Trump also announced in October 2020 that Sudan had agreed to normalize relations with Israel, becoming the third Arab nation to do so under the agreement, after the UAE and Bahrain.“This is peace in the Middle East like we’ve never seen before. More countries are coming,” Trump stated during the announcement. The Sudan-Israel deal, however, faced implementation delays due to internal political upheaval in Sudan, though the normalization framework remains in place.Afghanistan withdrawal framework: February 2020 Doha AgreementTrump's administration signed the Doha Agreement with the Taliban in February 2020, which laid the groundwork for the eventual US military withdrawal from Afghanistan.“I made the deal that got us out of the longest war in American history,” Trump has claimed. The agreement stipulated a timeline for US troop drawdown and Taliban commitments to prevent terrorist safe havens. The final US withdrawal occurred in August 2021, during former President Joe Biden’s term, following the Taliban’s rapid return to power.Other Trump claims: Russia-Ukraine, Africa, and the Nile DamTrump has also made several additional claims regarding his role in halting or preventing conflicts:Russia–Ukraine War: Trump has stated he could end the war “in 24 hours” and suggested he had a peace deal ready, but provided no details. As of June 2025, no such deal has materialized and fighting continues.Democratic Republic of Congo-Rwanda: Trump cited this as another instance of his peace diplomacy, though no independent or official record supports direct US involvement.Egypt–Ethiopia Nile Dam Dispute: Trump claimed credit for calming tensions between Egypt and Ethiopia but also expressed frustration over U.S. financial contributions toward Ethiopia’s Grand Renaissance Dam, which he inaccurately claimed was “built by America.”Also read: Israel bleeds $1 billion a day in war with Iran as former defense chief issues dire financial warningMiddle East broad stability claims and legacy assertionsTrump frequently references his foreign policy record in campaign events, including claims of global stability during his presidency:“There were no new wars under my watch.
