Cricket: THE IZUZU T20 Smash is back for the 2025 Season. Boroko Motors who have come on board for the second year as the naming rights sponsor made the announcement yesterday at their Boroko Motors Office in Port Moresby. The tournament starts today with the men’s matches and will follow after with the women’s at the Amini Cricket Ground. Cricket PNG CEO Richard Done, who was present thanked Boroko Motors for another year of sponsorship, “it’s exciting to be here again for the 2025 Izuzu T20 Smash and it’s the second year of the sponsorship from Boroko Motors, but from Cricket PNG’s point of view, thank you very much to Donovan and to Liza Marie Brooks for their support of Cricket PNG. “It’s our premier domestic competition and it’s the most important time for us every year to be able to look at the talent that we have in this country.” Done said the tournament is starting today and will end on Sunday and will take a break before picking up again on Wednesday April 9 and Finishing on Sunday April 13 with finals. This year, the Baramundis will be going to Oman in October to qualify for the next T20 World Cup. So, this is a fantastic opportunity for them to show what they’ve got in the T20 format. And then the Lewas head off later in the year to the East Asia Pacific qualifier.” So, this is the launch pad for all of our teams and all of our players to show what they’ve done. Quite a few changes in this year’s teams. “We’re very excited that we’ve been able to link up a lot closer with the associations around PNG. And we have players from Kimbe, we have players from Lae, from Central and obviously from Port Moresby. So, it’s a really good mix of teams and we hope to find some new, exciting talent to join our national team.” Boroko Motors National Sales and Marketing Manager Donovan Brooks, said it’s their pleasure to continue the support for the code.
