‘It is seen as something progressive’ – URC chief Martin Anayi hails potential of Club World Cup

Last week’s announcement of a Rugby Club World Cup was a shock to many fans and divided opinion but URC CEO Martin Anayi believes the tournament is “progressive” for the game.
Beginning in 2028, the top eight teams from the Champions Cup group stages will join seven Super Rugby teams and one from Japan in a tournament to take place every four years that replaces the Champions Cup knockout stages.
