@Source: Jonathan Gorrie
Italy and Wales are today both looking to bounce back in the Six Nations this weekend. The two teams are being tipped for the wooden spoon after defeats first time around, albeit both will feel confident about claiming a win here. Italy lost 31-19 to Scotland last weekend, though produced an impressive comeback during the clash at Murrayfield and played some excellent rugby throughout. Meanwhile, Wales were smashed 43-0 by France in what was a miserable start to the campaign for Warren Gatland. Here’s everything you need to know about the game. Wales vs Italy is scheduled for a 2.15pm GMT kick-off time on Saturday, February 8, 2025. The Stadio Olimpico in Rome will host. TV channel: The game will be broadcast on ITV 1 and S4C. Live stream: Subscribers will be able to watch on a live stream ITVX, the BBC iPlayer and S4C Online – which are all free with an email subscription. Taulupe Faletau will make his first Wales appearance in 16 months, having been out with a succession of injuries since the last World Cup. Eddie James replaces the injured Owen Watkin in midfield as he makes his first Wales start, in what is the only other change to the side that were thrashed a week ago by France. That means the inexperienced duo of Henry Thomas and Evan Lloyd keep their places, but Tommy Reffell drops out of the 23-man squad. Italy are without Simone Gesi after he picked up a knee injury against Scotland. Jacopo Trulla replaces him on the bench, with the only change to the starting XV coming in the second row where Niccolo Cannone gets the nod over Dino Lamb. Italy XV: Allan; Capuozzo, Brex, Menoncello, Ioane; P Garbisi, Page-Relo; Fischetti, Nicotera, Ferrari, N Cannone, Ruzza, Negri, Lamaro, L Cannonne. Replacements: Lucchesi, Rizzioli, Riccioni, Lamb, Zuliani, Vintcent, A Garbisi, Trulla. Wales XV: L Williams; Rogers, Tompkins, James, Adams; B Thomas, T Williams; G Thomas, Lloyd, H Thomas, Rowlands, Jenkins, Botham, Morgan, Faletau. Replacements: Dee, Smith, Assiratti, F Thomas, Wainwright, R Williams, Edwards, Murray Italy wins: 4 Wales wins: 28 Italy might not be used to the favourites tag but it’s increasingly difficult to see where the next Welsh win comes from. Italy to win by seven points. Italy to win: 2/5 Wales to win: 11/5 Odds via Betfair and subject to change.
