Jack Crowley insists contract talks with Munster and IRFU 'still ongoing'

Yet there have been strong indications Crowley was set to reject those advances and commit his future to both Munster and Ireland once more.
Interim Munster head coach Ian Costello said last Saturday following his side’s bonus-point URC derby win in Castlebar that he was confident Crowley would remain in Ireland for next season, suggesting a contract announcement was imminent.
Speaking as a Pinergy ambassador on Wednesday, the player himself suggested a deal was yet to be struck.
“No, it's still ongoing but as I've said before and always will, I come back to performances and that's my main focus,” Crowley said. “The team behind me are looking after that and hopefully will be sorted, yeah.”
The Innishannon native stressed his preference for continuing to play for both his province and for Ireland, an option which would be denied to him if he were to move overseas.
“It’s a place that I love playing in and in weeks like this in Europe and everything like that, it adds that extra special element to it.
“You’ve got to consider everything. Growing up for me, always, playing for Munster and Ireland has been the main goal and winning trophies is probably up there with that as well. So, yeah, you’ve got to be unbelievably diligent with your decision making.”
The fly-half added that his career priorities were clarified when a big professional decision, such as a new contract, needed to be made.
"Absolutely, yeah, I think it's something in all areas of life when it comes down to decision making, things that are of massive importance to you, it brings you back to your beliefs, your principles, your values.
"They're all things that would drive my decision-making in all areas of my life, it's something I hope to continue going forward, post rugby, as well."
Crowley is set to be named as Munster’s starting 10 on Friday for the following day’s Champions Cup Round of 16 tie at La Rochelle and it was suggested to the west Cork man that his performance against Connacht was one of a player not distracted by any off-pitch concerns.
"Well look, the most important thing is performances. That's always been the case with me and it's something certainly you always want to give to the team and give 100 per cent when you're out there.
“It's unbelievably important that you are there and fully committed and then off the back of that, these things are part of the professional sport that we're in and as you go through it more, you learn to deal with it and understand that it's all part of it.”
