The 38-year-old enjoyed an ideal ending to his Foxes career as he scored his 200th goal for the club in his 500th appearance in a 2-0 win over Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon. Leicester still have one more game to play this season but Vardy has chosen not to be involved, instead signing off in front of the home fans at the King Power Stadium. Announcing his impending departure last month, he said: ‘I’ve had 13 unbelievable years at this club with lots of success, some downs but a majority, all highs, but it’s finally time to call it a day, which I’m devastated about but I think the timing is right. ‘I just want to sincerely thank you all for taking me in as one of your own. Leicester will always, always have a massive place in my heart and I’ll make sure that I will be following for the years to come and what I hope will be even more successful for the club. But as for now, this is my goodbye but you will see me again soon, I promise. Thank you.’ What is next for Vardy is yet to be confirmed, with a number of clubs linked with signing the England international, despite his advancing years. The specific team has not been touted, but Any MLS Club remains the shortest price for Vardy’s next move. After promotion to the Championship and with their Hollywood backing, Wrexham are next in the betting to snap up the Leicester legend. A Sheffield lad and a boyhood Owls fan, Sheffield Wednesday are also in the running to sign the striker, with Italian side Como also thought to be interested. The likes of Celtic, Wolves, Rangers and Leeds have all also been linked with the 26-cap England star. We’ve been in the Champions League, we’ve won the league and we’ve all been there to experience it. ‘The club will be fine. At the end of the day, we’ve got a good squad, we’ve got all youngsters coming through. I’m glad I’m not them! Football is a killer mentally, I couldn’t do it all again. ‘But I’ve enjoyed every minute of it and I look forward to keeping an eye on the club I love. They’re in my heart. ‘The only thing I really can say, from the bottom of my heart, is thank you for taking me and my family in as one of your own. Thank you all so much.’
