World No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah is leading India’s bowling attack in the third Test against England. In the match taking place at Lord’s in London, Bumrah opened his wicket account on Thursday (July 10) by dismissing world No. 1 Test batter Harry Brook (11 runs), and then on Friday, he picked up three wickets in the morning session. On Day 2 of the Lord’s Test, Bumrah first removed Ben Stokes. The England Test captain was clean bowled by Bumrah on the second ball of the 86th over, and then on the first ball of his next over (the 88th of England’s first innings), he breached Joe Root’s defence and shattered his stumps. Root, who is England’s leading run getter in Test cricket, scored 104 runs from 199 balls with the help of 10 fours. The wicket of Root on Friday helped Bumrah equal Pat Cummins’ record of dismissing Root 11 times in Test cricket. No other bowlers in the world have picked up Root’s wicket more times than Bumrah and Cummins now. Australia’s Josh Hazlewood is second on the list with 10.
