India picked up an emphatic win over England in the second Test. With Bumrah out, not many gave India a chance to win the Test, but Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj's exceptional performance led India to a brilliant win. Chasing a target of 608, England resumed the day at 72-3, and never got any momentum in the innings, eventually getting bowled out for 271 and losing by 336 runs. Shubman Gill was exceptional with the bat and scored 269 and 161 in the two innings, helping India post 587 and 427-6 respectively. Siraj picked six wickets in the first innings to bowl out England for 407, helping India take a 180-run lead. In the second innings, it was Akash Deep's turn to rattle England as he picked six wickets to pave the way for an emphatic win. India's Likely Playing XI For 3rd TestIndia are likely to make a few changes to the playing XI for the third Test despite the win in the second Test. Jasprit Bumrah was rested from the second Test to manage his workload and he will return to the playing XI without a doubt. With Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj doing well at Edgbaston, Prasidh Krishna will be the one to make way for Bumrah. India played Washington Sundar ahead of Kuldeep Yadav in the second Test - a move that was not well appreciated. Sundar did reasonably well with the bat, but he was taken to the cleaners by the England batters. There are high odds that India may play Kuldeep Yadav in the Lord's Test. There is also a debate about Karun Nair's place in the Test team. He was picked in the squad after scoring a plethora of runs in domestic cricket, but Nair hasn't been able to live up to the expectations with the bat. With Abhimanyu Easwaran in the squad, who is a specialist top-order batter, time may be running out for Karun Nair. But chances are high that he may be given one more shot in the paying XI before the team moves away from him.
