Jenna Bush Hager 'worried' after using profanity on live NBC show: 'Going to get a call from the boss'

Jenna Bush Hager brought a little spicy energy to Today With Jenna & Friends on Thursday, when the NBC personality used profanity during a live broadcast, much to the shock of colleague Willie Geist and her behind-the-scenes crew members. The 43-year-old journalist and daughter of former president George W. Bush used the word "a--hole" while reflecting on her first hangout with Geist and his wife, Christina "Tini" Geist, during the London Olympics in 2012. "I remember I wanted to meet Tini," Hager recalled on Thursday's live show, adding that Christina noted a very particular observation about her then-3-year-old son, George. "I don't know if you can say this, but she's like, 'God, George is acting like an a--hole.'" Geist looked forward in shock, with Hager doubling down by telling him, "Tini said it." The morning TV personality then looked around and observed, "All of them are like, you're not allowed to say that. Can you say it one time?" she asked her colleagues. "No, zero times. You can say it zero times," Geist responded, prompting Hager to again observe, "Everybody's looking at me like, why did you say that?" She also buried her face in her hands in the aftermath of the slip-up. Geist admitted that, "I'm looking at you like, why did you say that? I want to go on the record that my wife never said such a thing about my precious 3-year-old son." Hager again stressed, "Yes, she did" and that she was now "blushing" over her use of profanity on the air. "I thought you were allowed to say it one time. That's just Schitt's Creek?" Hager asked, though Geist explained to her that the use of the TV show's name was different, because it wasn't technically an instance of profanity. "Don't keep going down the line of expletives, this stops here," Geist advised. "And we are live on NBC this morning." Hager continued, telling Geist that "I thought that was funny, and [George] is a wonderful man now," before she admitted, "I feel worried, like I'm going to get a call from the boss or something." Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for Today With Jenna & Friends for comment. Hager isn't the only on-air personality to use profanity during a live show, as the cohosts of The View are often censored — and, in Sara Haines' case, sometimes not — for swearing during their shows, too.
