Jenna Fischer Says It ‘Doesn’t Make Sense’ She Doesn't Have the Teapot Jim Gives Pam on “The Office.” Here’s Who Does

The Office alumni Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski opened up in a new interview with the Los Angeles Times about fans' enduring love of their characters Jim and Pam, and which props they took home from setFischer said that even though Pam receives a teapot as a romantic gift from Jim, Krasinski is the one who has itKrasinski also reflected on where he thinks Jim and Pam are now
Fans of The Office remember it as one of the show’s sweetest moments: Jim gets Pam in Secret Santa and gives her a teapot filled with little reminders of their friendship — and a note confessing his feelings for her, which he steals so she can’t read.
But Jenna Fisher — who starred as Pam on the beloved series alongside John Krasinski as Jim — revealed to the Los Angeles Times in an article published March 24 (in honor of the show’s 20th anniversary) that she did not go home with the teapot in real life.
“John got the teapot! How does that make sense?” the actress, 51, said.
“She ratted me out!” Krasinski, 45, joked with the outlet. “Yes, I have the teapot, which I realize is quite the memento. It actually came to me by happenstance as our incredible prop master Phil Shea sent me a box of props sometime after we had wrapped.”
The teapot featured in season 2, episode 10, titled “Christmas Party.” Jim puts together his thoughtful gift for Pam after he gets her name in Secret Santa, but when Michael Scott (Steve Carell) is mad to receive a handmade pot holder, he turns the event into a Yankee Swap (more typically called White Elephant), in which people can steal each other’s gifts. Pam ultimately swaps back for the pot, but Jim steals the note full of his feelings before she can open it.
Then, in the show’s ninth and final season, Jim finally gives Pam — who is now his wife — the note in an emotional callback to the show’s early seasons, before their characters were together. Fischer revealed in a 2020 episode of her podcast Office Ladies that Krasinski actually wrote her a personal note “just saying what our time together on The Office meant to him” for her to read in the scene.
“So I’m on camera, and I open up this note that John’s written me, and I just start crying, I just start bawling,” she remembered. “The first take was probably not usable.”
Fischer and Krasinski also told the Times about other props they ended up with from the show. “I got my Dundies,” Fischer said, referencing the fake awards that Michael gave out to his workers in multiple episodes. “I have both [Dundies], for Longest Engagement and Whitest Sneakers. I kept a bunch of stuff,” she said. “I kept one of Pam’s sweaters and one of her shirts. I kept her watch, her purse, and I kept the necklace that she wore for Jim and Pam’s wedding.”

“I kept this pen that was on her desk. It doesn’t even work, but I kept it,” she added. “This cup was Pam’s cup on the show, and in the ninth season, it fell off the desk and broke. But the crew knew that I had wanted to take it, and so they glued it back together for me. I can’t use it, but I have it.” She also kept the yogurt lid medal from the “Office Olympics” episode in season 2.
Krasinski, meanwhile, said that in the box the show’s prop master sent him, he received, “My bag from the show, my name plate from my desk, even the copy of The Adventures of Jimmy Halpert comic book.”
Reflecting on the enduring appeal of the Jim and Pam romance, Fischer told the outlet, “You always hope that you will find and marry your best friend, the person who looks at you the way Jim looks at Pam, or the way Pam looks at Jim. In those early seasons, we capture so much of their longing for one another. Everyone wants to be longed for in the way these two long for one another.”
As for where the couple ended up after the show’s finale in 2013, which saw the pair and their kids move from Scranton, Pa., to Austin, Texas, Krasinski said, “They’ve got a cool house just outside Austin where they’ve loved raising their kids. Pam’s found a cool art crowd at UT. And they’ve probably snuck away for a date night as we speak, grabbing Whataburger takeout and sitting in the park by the bridge waiting for the bats to fly.”
