In just a few weeks, the 2025 Masters will take place once again April 10-13 at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
For longtime CBS broadcaster Jim Nantz, it’ll be his 40th Masters broadcast – and he’s not ready to call it quits anytime soon.
Nantz, 65, plans to continue broadcasting the Masters through 2036, he told Scottish golf magazine Bunkered. The 2036 Masters will mark the 100th Masters tournament.
“April 14, 2036. That is my scheduled retirement date,” Nantz said. “It would be a perfect place to walk out.”
However, the legendary broadcaster noted “a lot of things would have to happen for that to occur.”
“First off, my health would have to hold up,” Nantz said. “Secondly, CBS and Augusta National would have to want me to come back.
Nantz has become synonymous with the Masters since his first broadcast of the event in 1986. He coined the phrase “a tradition unlike any other,” referring to the PGA’s most popular major, which the Masters trademarked in 2015.

Nantz did admit that he may not be quite ready to retire from the Masters broadcast when his contract expires in 2036.
“I know what’s going to happen. I’m going to get to that year, and I’m going to say, ‘You know, maybe I could do this for a while longer,‘” he said.
“We have broadcasters over here that have gone on well into their 80s, so that’s one of those ‘wait and sees,’ I guess.”
