John Daly's Son Comes to Charlie Woods' Aid amid Sage Valley Struggles
@Source: newsweek.com
Charlie Woods is a long way from being a great champion in professional golf, and it is not even certain that he will get there. However, his name is one of the most popular in the world of golf and virtually every move he makes receives more media coverage than many stars on tour.It's the burden of being the son of Tiger Woods, many will say, and they're right. However, this massive attention may not be good for him, especially from a golfing standpoint.Someone who understands this very well, for obvious reasons, is the son of John Daly, John II. The current member of the Arkansas Razorbacks talked about the subject when he recently appeared as a guest on the Identity Sports Podcast and gave his "expert" take on the matter."People expect just because you have a famous professional, like Tiger, for example. Tiger and Charlie, I feel like everybody just put Charlie in this category that not many people get to until they are 20, 21, or 22, whatever it is," he said."He's just a kid, he wants to have fun, I guess I think people expect way too much of him for his age right now. I definitely feel some of the stuff he is probably going through."At 16 years of age, Charlie Woods is just getting started in competitive golf. His scores may not be those of some of his contemporaries, such as Miles Russell or Blades Brown, but he has had his share of success.Woods counts on his resume a victory in the 2023 Florida High School Boys 1A State Championship, as part of the Benjamin School. He also won the 2024 South Florida Junior PGA Cup and has twice finished runner-up in the PGA Tour Champions PNC Championship, teaming with his father, Tiger Woods.The most recent of those results came just a few months ago, in December 2024, when Team Woods lost in a playoff to Bernhard Langer and his son, Jason. One of the highlights of the event was a spectacular ace by Charlie.However, Charlie Woods has also had his less glamorous moments in competitive golf. The most recent was at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, where he finished tied for 25th at 11-over in a field that included 36 of the world's best junior players.More Golf: Bryson DeChambeau Clears the Air amid Rory McIlroy Masters 'Beef
