Former Denver Broncos quarterback and Hall of Famer John Elway was driving a golf cart last weekend when his friend fell off the back, suffering a traumatic injury that put him on life support, according to TMZ. Elway’s longtime friend and business partner, 61-year-old Jeff Sperbeck, rolled and hit his head on the asphalt when he fell off the cart in the private California golf community, sources told TMZ reporters. The two men and their wives had reportedly been at the Stagecoach music festival earlier in the day and were leaving a post-party when the fall happened on Saturday. Paramedics took Sperbeck to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, but sources told TMZ that his prognosis isn’t good and he remains on life support. No one else was injured in the incident.
