Jordan Spieth Breaks Silence on Masters Secret He's 'Not Supposed to Talk About'
@Source: newsweek.com
Jordan Spieth is already a legend at The Masters, but he has been unable to get back into the winner's circle and don the Green Jacket since triumphing in 2015.Even though Spieth has fallen from the top of the sport in recent years, he is still able to play well at Augusta National on a fairly consistent basis. This year, he notched a strong T-14 finish with a strong weekend and a final score of 3-under-par.Despite the positive showing, the three-time major champion feels that his score could have been even better if it weren't for mud balls in the fairway. He even broke an unwritten Masters rule to bring it up after the tournament."My iron play killed me the last two days, and to be brutally honest with you, it was primarily mud balls," Spieth said, per NUCLR Golf. "It's just so frustrating because you can't talk about them here. You're not supposed to talk about them."Mud balls can affect this tournament significantly, especially when you get them a lot on 11 and 13. They're just daggers on those two holes. But, every person is having to deal with it, but the fact that you're not supposed to talk about it is a bit frustrating because it is a difference maker. It can be a difference maker in scores on some holes."Spieth put together an impressive score of 5-under par on the weekend after making the cut on the number, so he clearly got used to the conditions as the tournament went on. That didn't stop him from voicing his displeasure afterward.While it has dipped in recent years, Spieth has played some of the best golf of his career at Augusta National. In 12 starts at The Masters, he has made 10 cuts, finished in the top five six times and won the tournament once.As a result, it was no surprise to see him post a respectable score even though he was frustrated.More Golf: Rory McIlroy Hints at Winning All 4 Majors This Year, Here's Why He Can
