Jose Mourinho plots shock move for struggling Man Utd star as offer details emerges
@Source: mirror.co.uk
Jose Mourinho is ready to offer Rasmus Hojlund an escape route from his struggles at Manchester United with Fenerbahce interested in signing the striker on loan this summer. Hojlund, 22, has failed to live up to expectations since moving to Old Trafford from Atalanta for £72million in the summer of 2023. And the Dane is one of a number of stars at risk of the axe this summer as Ruben Amorim and the Old Trafford hierarchy bid to shake up a squad that is currently languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table. Despite netting only 11 times this term a number of European clubs have been credited with an interest in signing the Red Devils striker, including Juventus . And a new report from Turkish outlet Sozcu claims that Fenerbahce are one of them. They are said to be willing to raid Mourinho 's old club to try and take Hojlund on loan for the 2025-26 campaign. It remains to be seen if United would prefer to loan or sell Hojlund. The Red Devils are known to be in the market for attacking reinforcements, including a new No.9, but they do not have an endless pot of cash to splash. They would be unlikely to recoup the £72m they parted with to sign the Denmark international, though, which could make a loan move more attractive. The report adds Fenerbahce's first offer for the forward will be a loan proposal with an option to make the move permanent. Join the debate! Do you think Man Utd should let Hojlund go or keep him? Let us know here While there has been plenty of speculation that Holund could be put up for sale this summer he was singled out for praise by Amorim after United's recent triumph over Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League semi-finals. “I think it was the best game that he had with me as a coach,” Amorim said of United's No.9. “He helped the team a lot, he secured the ball and then made the runs, he decided quite well. “It is a good moment for him but, like Harry (Maguire), he needs to understand that everything can change. So let’s focus on the next one. This is in the past. We have a tough job to do on Sunday and on Thursday.” Join our new WhatsApp community an d receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
