Jurgen Klopp has made Benjamin Sesko feelings clear as Man United know transfer fee

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp described reported Manchester United target Benjamin Sesko as a "ridiculous" talent with an "incredible skillset" as the forward continues to be linked with a switch to Old Trafford . The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to the Reds over the weekend, with The Athletic reporting that United have "kept tabs on" the forward for more than six years. However, at this moment in time, it is claimed that the Slovenian international is not the "subject of serious attention" from Ruben Amorim 's side, who are in the hunt for a forward after missing out Liam Delap as well as seeing speculation around Hugo Ekitike and Viktor Gyokeres come to nothing. Since signing up to Red Bull's multi-club model in 2019, Sesko has gone from strength to strength and established himself as one of the brightest young forwards in Europe. In 2023, after four years at Red Bull Salzburg, the 22-year-old joined RB Leipzig in a deal worth roughly £20million, having rejected United when the planned move was announced a year earlier , while his agent has since paid multiple visits to Old Trafford and Carrington. In the years since signing for the Bundesliga outfit, the 22-year-old has scored 27 goals in 64 league appearances in Germany, resulting in him regularly being linked with a move to the Premier League . Leipzig would consider a fee of around £70m for the forward. And earlier this year, former Liverpool manager Klopp, now the Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull, was effusive in his praise of Sesko. "I’ve actually known him for a while, I knew him already when he was at Salzburg. I think we played a friendly game here when he was very, very young," recalled Klopp in January. "I was really impressed, I thought, “Where do they get all these players? Ridiculous.’ "I have no plans with him, just to make that clear. Don’t get it wrong, I will not show up in training and tell them what to do. "Our plan, and I don’t have to ask Marco Rose what his plan is with him [Sesko], I know it… he wants to help him score as many goals as possible. "He has space for improvement, space for development, incredible skillset, incredible potential, so I’m happy that we have him." Sesko is under contract at Leipzig until 2029, having renewed his terms last summer. --- Here at the Manchester Evening News, we’re dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.
