@Source: newsweek.com
Justin Thomas broke his winless drought a few weeks back at the RBC Heritage, and the good golf continued for him in Philadelphia at the Truist Championship.He is in contention entering the weekend at 7-under, tied for fourth. He sits five shots back of the leader, Keith Mitchell.After the first round, he and Mitchell, who shot a 9-under 61 to open the tournament, celebrated their scores with Philly cheese steaks.They posted it on social media, and it went viral. The photo shows a happy Thomas with his Philly in his lap, and a mouthful of Angelo's."It was great," Thomas said about the sandwich after his round on Friday."It's not even — it's such a different world of its own, and even if it wasn't, I wouldn't say that," he explained. "It's great, but there's a reason it's called a Philly cheesesteak, I guess."A celebratory cheese steak is a must when the scores are as good as the ones Thomas and Mitchell posted, especially when you're in the sandwich's namesake city.Thomas followed up his 4-under 66 on Thursday with a 3-under 67.He recorded five birdies and two bogeys on the day. Philadelphia Cricket Club was a little more challenging on Friday with the rain."The ball doesn't go anywhere when it's like this," he noted. "We're flipping sand wedges, gap wedges in yesterday, and I hit a drive as good as I could and hit a pretty good 6-iron in today. With the softness, the course can't show its teeth too much. But weather like this makes the play — it's harder to make birdies.Thomas sits in a good position with 36 holes left to play on the Wissahickon Course.The real question here, though, is whether he will celebrate Friday's play with another cheese steak or give something else a go in Philadelphia?More Golf: Tiger Woods' TGL Files Trademark for New Team, but Not the City Expected
