Bengaluru, Jul 8 (PTI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the ‘Kalaloka’ stall at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in September.
The aesthetically designed stall will showcase and sell six products representing Karnataka’s heritage, along with 28 Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged products, state Minister for Large and Medium Industries M B Patil said on Tuesday.
The Minister shared this information after chairing a progress review meeting with senior officials of the Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC) and the Department of Industries and Commerce, his office said in a release.
Products such as Coffee, Mysuru Silk, Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited’s (KSDL) Sandal Soap, Lidkar (leather) items, handicrafts, and handwoven goods traditionally associated with Karnataka will be featured at the stall.
In addition, 28 other GI-tagged products, including the famous Channapatna toys, will also be made available to customers, it said.
The Minister emphasised that international-standard packaging, design, and branding will be ensured to attract global consumers.
Further, another Kalaloka stall is planned at the International Lounge, for which tenders will be invited shortly, he said.
The first stall, slated to open in September, will span 130 square metres. Kempegowda Airport authorities have provided the space at a 50 percent concession on rent, Patil explained. PTI KSU ROH
