New Zealand cricket star Kane Williamson scripted history by scoring an unbeaten 133 against South Africa in the Pakistan Tri-Series. The stunning performance came at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium during the second match, which saw the Black Caps chase down 305. Williamson, who slammed his 14th ODI ton, added a 187-run stand with Devon Conway. He also completed 7,000 ODI runs, becoming the second-fastest to do so. Williamson's brilliant century, the second fastest of his career, helped New Zealand book a place in the tri-series final. His knock comprised of 13 fours and 2 sixes. Not only did this end his century bid, but also helped New Zealand comfortably beat South Africa by six wickets with eight balls to spare. Williamson slammed a 113-ball 133*. With a boundary that sealed New Zealand's win, Williamson also became the fifth player from his country to score 7,000 runs in ODI cricket. He joined the likes of Ross Taylor, Stephen Fleming, Martin Guptill, and Nathan Astle. The achievement also puts him second on an elite list of players to have reached the milestone in the least number of innings. Williamson completed this remarkable milestone in just 159 innings, making him the second-fastest to score 7,000 runs in ODI history. He has gone past Virat Kohli (161 innings) on this elite list and now only trails Hashim Amla (150 innings). He also broke Guptill's record (186 innings) to become the fastest Kiwi player with 7,000 ODI runs. Williamson, one of the most technical batters, now has 14 centuries in ODIs. Only Taylor (21), Guptill (18), and Astle (16) are ahead of Williamson on this elite list. Williamson now has the second-most ODI tons for NZ away from home. With six such centuries, he broke a tie with Daryl Mitchell. He is only behind Guptill and Taylor (7 each).
