She recently took a dig at a luxurious brand, Prada, amid its OG Prada Kolhapuri chappal row. She ditched the brand’s footwear and wore an original traditional Kolhapuri chappal during an international trip. Kareena Kapoor Khan ditches Prada for Kolhapuri chappal Kareena Kapoor took to her Instagram story and shared a picture of her foot. She is seen wearing traditional Kolhapuri footwear, which is made of pure leather and has a silver coating. She wrote, “Sorry not Prada…(laughing and punching emoji) but my OG kolapuri (Heart emoji).” Kareena promoted the Indian tradition by opting for kolhapuri chappal instead of wearing a high-end luxurious brand. For the unversed, the Kolhapuri chappal has been making headlines on the internet ever since the Italian fashion house Prada debuted its own take on the chappals as part of Prada’s Men’s Spring/Summer 2025. Many netizens slammed the brand for not acknowledging the traditional Indian craft of making Kolhapuri chappals. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed against the brand for selling the chappals for Rs 1 lakh. Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada Group Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, said, “We acknowledge that the sandals featured in the recent Prada Men's 2026 Fashion Show are inspired by traditional Indian handcrafted footwear, with a centuries-old heritage. We deeply recognise the cultural significance of such Indian craftsmanship." As per the latest update, Prada will hold a meeting via video conferencing with office-bearers of the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MACCCIA) and artisans on July 11.
