Delhi Capitals' new recruit, Karun Nair, is keen to convert his phenomenal domestic form into success in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The Vidarbha batter was picked up by the franchise in the IPL 2025 mega-auction after an outstanding domestic season where he exhibited his talent in both white-ball and red-ball formats. Nair's incredible journey started with a record-breaking Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign, where he scored a staggering 779 runs in just eight innings. Nair's domestic season was nothing short of extraordinary. He scored five centuries and one 50 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with an incredible average of 389.50. The batter continued his stellar performance into the Ranji Trophy, leading Vidarbha to victory with a total of 863 runs at an average of 53.94. He also scored 255 runs in six Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy innings. His outstanding form caught the attention of IPL franchises. As he gears up for the upcoming IPL season, Nair sounded confident and focused. I have been playing cricket for a while, I have seen ups and downs... I am relaxed and taking the confidence into the IPL, he said during a media interaction. The batter emphasized his commitment to contributing in every game of the tournament and expressed excitement about rejoining Delhi Capitals after two seasons. Delhi Capitals got Nair for ₹50 lakh ahead of the IPL 2025 season. Nair also said he admires Delhi Capitals' new captain, Axar Patel, for his leadership skills and understanding of the game. He also spoke about how excited he is to reunite with longtime teammate KL Rahul. I am really happy to be back at the Delhi Capitals...the plan will be to replicate the past success we had domestically here for the Delhi Capitals, Nair said, hoping Delhi can win its first IPL title this season. Although Nair last played in the IPL during the 2020 season, he has amassed 1,480 runs. Across 73 matches, he has an average of 24.26 and a strike rate of 128.36. Additionally, he also boasts 10 fifties and a high score of 83*. Notably, his best season came during the 2016 season, when he amassed 357 runs at 35.70 across 14 matches.
