Kate Hudson had a quick answer when asked if there was any movie role she turned down that she regrets saying "no" to today: The Devil Wears Prada."I should've made it happen," Hudson said. "And I didn't."The Almost Famous actress was being interviewed on the Capital Breakfast morning show on British radio network Capital FM. The 2006 movie — costarring Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci — eventually booked Anne Hathaway in the role Hudson turned down, and catapulted the Princess Diaries star to A-lister status."That was a bad call," Hudson admitted. "It was a timing thing, and it was just one of those things. I couldn't do it.""That was one that when I saw it, I was like, 'ugh,'" she continued. But the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star has learned to take things in stride. "Everything happens for a reason," she said, before explaining how difficult it is to plan shooting schedules for overlapping films. "It's not that you don't do [roles] because you don't want to do them...You're doing something else.""It just sucked," she finished, of missing out on the film about an intern at the fictional Runway magazine, widely known to be a depiction of fashion bible Vogue. A sequel is in the works, according to a report published in Variety on July 8, 2024.The same year as the movie came out, Hudson — daughter of icon Goldie Hawn — starred in You, Me and Dupree with Owen Wilson and Matt Dillon. She next starred in Fool's Gold with her How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days costar, Matthew McConaughey.
