Kate Middleton had a bit of a "blunder" during her recent trip to Scotland. But it was her reaction that left everyone talking – because it's been making many people smile.
This week, the Prince and Princess of Wales - or the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay as they're known in Scotland - attended the official naming ceremony of HMS Glasgow.
They were spotted at the event on Thursday, 22 May, where Kate, as the ship's sponsor, was tasked with christening the warship in traditional fashion by smashing a bottle of whisky against the hull. It's said that the spirit was a special single malt from Clydeside Distillery.
Every bottle sold will contribute to one of Kate's patronage charities, Place2Be, which supports children's mental health in the Glasgow area. In a brief address, the Princess stated: "May God bless her and all who sail on her."
Following the ceremony, William, aged 42, and Kate, aged 43, were invited onboard to meet apprentices from BAE Systems.
These were the individuals responsible for delivering the vessel, which is the first of eight Type 26 anti-submarine frigates to be built in Glasgow. It was here that Kate experienced a minor hiccup.
After boarding the ship, the Royal pair engaged in a friendly competition of pipe-building. Kate made a strong start, while William was caught chatting, admitting he didn't realise it was a race.
Princess Kate found herself in a playful mishap while showcasing her engineering skills, built from years of playing with kid's toys. After being hailed the winner, a piece from her construction toppled.
It sent her into uncontrollable laughter – and her husband cracked a smile too. Prince William couldn't help but chuckle at the "perfectly timed" moment across the table.
The hilarious clip quickly made its way to TikTok, leaving Royal enthusiasts absolutely delighted. Fans were quick to praise Princess Kate's down-to-earth nature, with one user commenting: "She seems so natural, so fun, doesn't take herself too seriously - and she knew how to fix it."
Another fan expressed admiration for her relatable qualities: "Love Kate - she's so funny and relatable." Others commended her authenticity, saying, "So natural and real - love her."
There were also comments about how Kate handled the slip-up: "Hilarious - and what a recovery."
One individual even linked her charm to royalty, adding: "This is our future Queen. The late Queen and Princess Diana would be so proud."
Kate and William are no strangers to friendly rivalry during their public engagements – they've been seen stirring up competition from cocktail mixing to sailing and even making dough balls at a bakery.
The Good, The Bad and The Rugby podcast, which Mike Tindall, married to William's cousin Zara, hosts, shed some light on the Royal couple's competitive nature back in 2013.
Mike playfully hinted without outright saying it by offering up a gesture: "I'm not going to say you're uber competitive,".
The Princess of Wales jokingly countered with: "I'm not competitive at all." Mike teased further about her hidden talents: "I've seen her play beer pong!"
Another heartwarming incident occurred in Scotland, according to a video on Instagram. An admirer told Princess Kate, "You're beautiful", and did not leave Prince William out, adding: "You too, William!".
Prince William, ever the joker, made everyone giggle with his reply: "You don't have to say that. Don't worry."
