The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared remarkable behind-the-scenes footage from Prince Louis' seventh birthday photoshoot. Earlier today, a fresh image of the young prince was posted on social media, featuring Louis perched on a tree trunk, grinning and revealing a gap where his two front teeth should be.
The photo was accompanied by the caption: "Wishing Prince Louis a very Happy 7th Birthday!" followed by a cake emoji. The picture was taken earlier this month by Josh Shinner in Norfolk, where the Wales family celebrated Easter.
Now, Prince William and Kate have offered a sneak peek into the photoshoot, showing Louis leaping off logs and flashing his charming gap-toothed smile.
In the video, Louis is seen posing for the camera in the sunshine and playfully running up close to the lens. Louis points out: "I can jump down from here" before he is seen walking along and making a large leap off a log.
Kensington Palace shared that the video, set to music and filmed in the style of an archive home movie, was produced by its in-house social media team, reports the Mirror.
In the photo released earlier, the young prince is seen dressed in an open-necked checked shirt, a dark green jumper, and blue jeans, with a carpet of bluebells providing a picturesque woodland backdrop.
The latest photo and video of the young prince come as he and his older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, wrap up their Easter holidays before heading back to Lambrook School for the summer term tomorrow. The Wales family opted out of the traditional Royal Easter gathering at Windsor Castle, choosing instead to spend quality time together at their country home in Norfolk.
Despite this, they still attended an Easter Sunday service in Sandringham, accompanied by Kate's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton. The family managed to avoid the crowds outside the church to enjoy the service, where they were given hot cross buns upon leaving.
Louis has largely been growing up away from the public eye, with his last public appearance being on Christmas Day when the Royal Family made their customary festive outing on King Charles ' Sandringham Estate to attend church. He was photographed receiving gifts from generous well-wishers.
Last year, Louis' birthday arrived just weeks after his mother Kate had publicly announced her cancer diagnosis. This has resulted in limited public appearances for the young prince over the past 12 months.
However, he did join the rest of the Wales family in a personal video released by his mother to mark the end of her chemotherapy treatment in September. He was also present among the congregation at Westminster Abbey in early December for Kate's annual Christmas Carol Concert.
Louis, the youngest child of William and Kate, has begun to adopt more mature pastimes; his father disclosed last year that the young prince has developed a passion for cricket. He is also a rugby enthusiast, with the Duchess sharing during an outing to Twickenham that "Louis is kamikaze, we're worrying about when he gets older, he'll be in the middle of everything."
Beyond sports, Louis has demonstrated a flair for photography, evidenced by a photo he captured of his mother, which was shared on World Cancer Day in February.
Fourth in line to the throne, Prince Louis was born on St George's Day, April 23, 2018, within the exclusive confines of St Mary's Hospital's Lindo Wing in Paddington, London, tipping the scales at 8lb 7oz. His christening, conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, took place within the Chapel Royal at St James' Palace when he was 11 weeks old and was celebrated in the company of close friends and relatives.
