KATIE Price has revealed the real reason behind her breakup with Peter Andre, saying co-parenting with him is the "most difficult thing". The former couple famously met on I'm A Celebrity in 2004, where their chemistry played out on screen in front of millions. After leaving the jungle, their romance moved quickly - they got engaged in secret just a few months later and tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in 2005. The pair went on to have two children together, Junior, 19, and Princess, 17. But by 2009, their fairytale had unravelled. Speaking on Paul C. Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast, Katie has now opened up about what really happened behind the scenes. She revealed that Peter became convinced she had been unfaithful with her dressage trainer, Andrew Gould. Katie insisted: “There was nothing going on. I just kept my horse at his stables - he was married, and I was happy just keeping my horse there.” According to Katie, Peter’s suspicions sparked repeated arguments until she reached her breaking point. She said: “He kept saying, ‘I’ve had enough, I’ve had enough.’ In the end, I said, ‘Fine, divorce me then.’ And that was that.” She recalled how the split quickly went public, adding: “I remember it so clearly. I was flying to the Maldives with the kids and suddenly it was all over Sky News. "It wasn’t mutual at all - it was his decision. I even put out a statement saying I didn’t want the separation.” To this day, she says they’ve never properly spoken about the breakup. Katie said: “We’ve never actually sat down and had a conversation about what happened,” she said. “It’s all been done through lawyers.” At the time, Peter publicly said he was heartbroken, particularly over being separated from his children. He told the Daily Star: “Being apart from my kids is just destroying me. I’m absolutely gutted.” Katie echoed the emotional toll co-parenting has taken on her, confessing on the podcast: “It’s the hardest thing. But over time, you learn what people are really like. It’s been tough.” Despite the cracks that had formed - including very public rows and on-screen bickering during their reality TV days - many fans were stunned when the couple called it quits. Katie maintains it was never her intention for their marriage to end. But she did brand Andrew "the one that got away", as The Sun exclusively revealed last year. A friend told us: "Katie still jokes that Andrew is the ‘one that got away’ – she had a crush on him and they were very close, even though nothing happened as they were both married.” Pictures had emerged at the time of Andrew and Katie out on the town which led to a huge bust up for both their partners. Andrew and his wife Polly released a statement at the time about the strength of their relationship and Polly spoke out about how Katie had ruined her life. She said at the time: "I am not happy about it at all. I am not happy I got involved in her life. "I am not happy that it has come to this. Jordan became a client of my husband and mine too as we both run a horse business. "He teaches her and I look after her horses and that was supposed to be it. "But I am sure there will be other stories to come out and I am cross the focus has shifted onto us like this." Andrew was recently thrusted back into the spotlight after being called up by Team GB for the Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, Katie reignited her huge feud with Peter last month in a war over their daughter Princess’s hair. Speaking on The Katie Price Show podcast, which she hosts alongside her sister Sophie, 35, the reality star accused her ex of once getting Princess’s hair cut without asking her first. During a chat about parenting boundaries, Sophie said: “Do you know what would also wind me up? If Albert’s hair or Olive’s hair was cut without me knowing.” Katie replied: “I’ve been there.” Sophie continued: “I’d be absolutely fuming.” Katie then explained: “I’ve been there. There’s been times when Princess has come home and her hair’s been cut without the mum’s permission. “I think things like that... it’s the parent’s decision, or you let the other parent know if they’re happy with it and stuff.” She added: “Isn’t it weird though, I’m sure there’s mums out there, things that annoy them that mother-in-laws or family members do to annoy them.” These days, Junior is a singer and is often seen on the showbiz circuit with his girlfriend Jasmine Orr, 24. Princess makes a living as an influencer, having signed brand ambassador deals with Superdrug, PrettyLittleThing, and has even launched her own jewellery range. The Sun revealed in March that she's getting her own ITV show for her 18th birthday too. We Need To Talk episodes are available weekly, wherever you get your podcasts, and across socials.
