Kelly Ripa And Mark Consuelos Joke That They’re “A Freak Show” Because They “Can’t Even Hold Hands In Bed”
@Source: decider.com
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos were meant for each other, but according to the two co-hosts, their arms were not. While discussing the 20-20-20 rule to reduce digital eye strain — taking a 20 second break every 20 minutes to look ay something 20 feet away — on Live with Kelly and Mark on Thursday, Ripa claimed that she wouldn’t be able to determine a distance of 20 feet on her own. “OK so, by the time I figure out how far 20 feet is, I’ve already gone back to my book, I’ve gone back to the computer,” she teased. “I’m American, I can’t eyeball feet.” That wasn’t the same for Consuelos, who immediately estimated that a railing in front of them was about 20 feet away — and could even tell Ripa that it was “about 6 point something meters” away. He then put his own estimations to the test, getting up and taking six large strides toward the railing and concluding that the distance was actually “18 feet,” and that an audience member in a pink sweater was sitting at the 20-foot mark. Stunned, Ripa asked Consuelos how he was able to figure that out. “Are you using your magic ruler legs?” she quipped. After Consuelos attributed his special skill to soccer and football, Live‘s EP Michael Gelman pointed out how your wingspan can also be a “good” way to measure distances. “That’s your height,” he said with his arms out. However, both co-hosts seemed to be exceptions to the rule, with Consuelos’ long arms and Ripa’s short arms not being directly proportional to their heights. “Have you ever seen his wingspan?” Ripa asked. “He should be 17 feet tall.” She explained that this is why her and Consuelos “cannot hold hands,” also noting that her “arms do not equal [her] height.” “I’m taller than my arms are long. His arms are longer than he is tall,” she continued. “So we are an oddity, a freak show.” Consuelos agreed, “We’re freaks.” “When we hold hands, we can’t even hold hands in bed. Like holding hands in bed, I’m like, I can’t, I can’t do it,” Ripa added, fidgeting her arm in the process. “I have to get to the other end of the bed just to reach his arm.” Live with Kelly and Mark airs on weekdays.
