Kendrick Lamar conquers the Hot 100 once more this week. The rapper actually sits in first place on many of Billboard’s lists, but his presence on top of what is often considered the most important among all tallies published by the chart company is especially notable, when looking at his catalog.
Lamar rules once again with "Luther," a collaboration with his friend and longtime collaborator SZA. The track is a non-mover atop the Hot 100, and as it keeps in first place, it breaks out of a tie and establishes itself as the hip-hop powerhouse’s longest-running win on the tally.
“Luther” Leads for a Fourth Week
"Luther" has now led the charge on the Hot 100 for four weeks. All of those have been in a row, and the track now ranks as his longest-running champion on the list.
Last frame, "Luther" was tied with two other Lamar smashes, and they all jointly claimed the title of his longest-ruling winner. "Not Like Us" and "Like That," with Future and Metro Boomin, now stand as Lamar’s second-longest-running No. 1s, with three weeks in first place apiece.
Kendrick Lamar Replaced Himself at No. 1
"Luther" helped Lamar become one of a handful of musicians to replace themselves at No. 1 on the Hot 100. It took over from "Not Like Us," which returned to the summit on the Hot 100 in February after the rapper swept the Grammys and performed the track during the Super Bowl halftime show. Nearly a year after it was first released, the cut once again became the biggest tune in America and managed a rare showing for a months-old smash.

Kendrick Lamar’s Hot 100 Champions
"Luther" is one of Lamar’s half-dozen Hot 100 rulers. In addition to "Not Like Us" and "Like That," he’s also led the charge with his own "Humble" and "Squabble Up," as well as a featured act on "Bad Blood," which was fronted by Taylor Swift. That poppy cut earned the star his first champion, when he was still introducing himself to the public.
This week, "Luther" runs the show on eight different Billboard charts, including the Hot 100. It appears inside the top 10 on another eight tallies – meaning 16 in total – as it succeeds on rankings dedicated to rap, R&B, and general consumption, as Americans seem to truly be loving the collaboration.
