Kerala athletes shine at special olympics bocce nationals with four medals
Dilna Shashikumar and Sinto MA won top honours in the women's and men's categories, respectively.
Kerala made a mark at the Special Olympics Bocce National Championship held in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, clinching four medals, including two gold. Dilna Shashikumar and Sinto MA won top honours in the women’s and men’s categories, respectively. Parvathy C secured a silver, while Achu PM bagged a bronze, ensuring a podium finish for every athlete representing the state.
The five-day championship, organised by Special Olympics Bharat — Chhattisgarh in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), concluded on Sunday, 27 July. The event witnessed participation from 22 states and celebrated the sporting prowess of athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Dilna, who trained at the UL Care Nayanaar Sadan — a vocational centre run by the ULCCS Foundation in Kozhikode — emerged victorious in the women’s division. Sinto represented Madonna Special School in Thrissur, Parvathy is a student of Navajeevan Special School in Kasaragod, while Achu hails from Chavara Special School, Ernakulam.
